Kick in the teeth.

Sometimes Change catches you in strange ways.  The world moves on, people move on, and when you realise it, it leaves a sick feeling in your gut.  Like a kick in the teeth, like a cold fever burning inside you, like the biggest adrenaline hit that has nowhere to go but to turn sour inside the pit of your stomach and to shiver its way out in a cold sweat.  When latent possibilities are aborted like unbirthed futures, when all the could-have-beens that you knew were lost, but cherished in some secret cave of your soul anyway, when these things that have made you who you are Change, it rocks you to the foundation of your being.  Have just been hit by one such unpleasant revelation.  Can’t say I care for it.
