Tooth Fairy.
The good news is I don’t have to operate on myself in a DIY/Ray Mears/Bear Gryls fashion with items found in the spare draw. The bad news is that I’ve got to go on antibiotics for a week and can’t drink. Oh, and have a wisdom tooth extracted.
To be honest the antibiotic/not drinking thing is more inconvenient than having a tooth extracted. Even if they do have to cut away gum first in order to get to it. Have got a great weekend up in Harps planned this weekend, and Lee T’s birthday bash in London next weekend. All this making myself well business is going to mean I have to not drink at one of these occasions. Very annoying. Normally I’d get around all this bother, by just drinking anyway, after all alcohol has antiseptic properties. Whiskey is practically medicine, and I’m sure Jagermeister was brewed as a medicine by crazy monks. But unfortunately the dentist (a large God-fearing, hymnal-listening, Caribbean lady) looked me in the eye and said ‘You can’t drink with these.’
‘Ok’, says I.
‘No, really. You cannot drink with these,’ she says staring me in the eye, ‘not so much as a sniff of alcohol.’
Staring straight back trying to psyche her out, ‘Ok, no drink. Alright. I get it.’ She keeps on staring for another 20 seconds before nodding, ‘no drinking. Not even one.’
Finally she was satisfied. I almost thought she was gonna make me sign a contract in blood. Honestly, some people have no trust.
Books
Books. Been reading a lot of books. I like books. The books I have been reading recently are:
1. ‘The Dark Tower’ series – Stephen King’s masterpiece.
2. ‘The Maltese Falcon’ – classic American detective fiction.
3. ‘The Devil in a Forest’ – Gene Wolfe at his enimagtic best.
4. ‘The Alchemist’ – Paulo Coelho (who is incidentally a fan of the Other Blog) getting all symbolic and philosophical up at ya.
5. ‘Dreamcatcher’ – good book, bad film. Any sci fi tale with alien “ass weasels” is ok by me.
6. ‘Brisingr’ – continuing the Eragon ‘Inheritance Cycle’ as it started, predictably and badly. Honestly the review “Wonderful … a real page-turner, the best adventure tale you’ll ever read” (Scottish Sunday Herald) makes you wonder if said newspaper’s reviewer has ever actually read any other adventure books.

I reckon you should switch to my dentist. He started encouraging me to drink from the age of about 5. Because it’s less damaging to enamel than coke et al.
Oh, and from what i’ve heard the only antibiotics you can’t drink with are tetracyclines, normally used to treat skin problems. In all other cases it’s an urban myth. Please don’t take my word for it though. I’m full of shit.
